Scorpion 150 STD

Scorpion 150 STD

Although mainly trolled, the 150 is a great casting lure for big salt and fresh water species. The “butterknife” tail aid in easy casting and the lure quickly descends to the depth engraved on the lure bib. When trolling areas of structure, the buoyancy of the lure and the “butterknife” tail allow the lure to back off any snags after the line has been allowed to slacken off. It may not work every time but is essential when trolling down close to structure that may snag your lure.

The more they chew the better they look! Our Designed to Bleed concept means our chrome colours are painted with a red layer underneath, imitating an injured baitfish as the wear and tear naturally takes place (from all the fish you catch!).
Scorpion 150 STD
After years of jumping hurdles, we have finally managed to develop the InvisiGlo process. This allows some of our lure colours to glow strongly in the dark, without affecting their normal daytime appearance!
Scorpion 150 STD
A heap of our lures are UV reactant and start humming when the purple light hits them! Similar to InvisiGlo, this UV reactant does not affect the normal appearance of the lures.

Halco bibs are bloody tough. Made out of the same polycarbonate material as bulletproof glass and combined with our unique, glueless bib locking method, our bibs are up for the fight.

Halco Triple Turn fish rings are 70% stronger than your traditional split ring. The extra turn eliminates the soft spot, and gives you the confidence and ability to go heavier and harder.

Madeye’s Rubber Stretch Technology is a unique rubber copolymer that has multiple advantages over soft plastics. RST is up to five times more durable than standard material, and is also buoyant, enabling the lure to float and wriggle when sitting on the bottom.

Where Can I Buy Halco Lures?

You can buy Halco lures from authorised Halco dealers and major fishing retailers, both online and in-store. To find a stockist near you, visit our Store Locator page.

How do I choose the right lure size and colour?

Choosing the right lure size and colour depends on the species you're targeting, the fishing conditions, and your preferred technique. As a general rule:

Lure Size: Match the size of the lure to the baitfish in the area. Larger lures are best for big predators like tuna and mackerel, whilst smaller lures are suited to smaller species like tailor, herring and bream.

Lure Colour
: Bright colours work well in murky water or low light, while natural colours are ideal for clear water conditions.

Are Halco lures suitable for saltwater and freshwater?

Yes! Halco lures are designed to perform in both saltwater and freshwater environments. Halco offers a wide range of lures suited for all conditions. Our lures are durable and built to withstand harsh saltwater environments, but they also perform exceptionally well in freshwater, targeting a variety of species.

What type of hooks do Halco lures come with?

At Halco, we hand-pick the best hook for each lure based on performance, durability and affordability. You can be assured that the hooks that come with every Halco are suitable for 90% of applications.

If you are an angler operating at that extreme level, for example, massive Giant Trevally or Dogtooth tuna, then it’s probably a good idea to upgrade to heavier hooks, just like a 4WD and its tyres.

Different styles of lures require different types of hooks, and we use a combination of trebles, singles and assist hooks across the BKK, VMC and Mustad ranges.
